HPHL nearly draws even with Ralston Valley; outlasts Greeley

Arvada, CO - The Mustangs nearly came back and drew with the Ralston Valley Mustangs with a 5 to 4 loss on Friday evening at the Apex Center Ice Arena on Friday evening.   The Mustangs went into the third period down 3 to 1 and scored 3 times and the RV Mustangs scored 2 to offer the crowd a very entertaining period of hockey. Connor Austin, Falk Boyle, and Henry Nelson scored (assist by Sean Whitfield and Vince Laurita) in the 3rd to add to Henry Nelson's unassisted second period goal. Nick Ross made 30 great saves from 35 shots.

In Greeley Sean Whitfield started the Mustangs off with the first period's only and unassisted goal.   The Greeley Freeze reclaimed the momentum in the game and scored twice in the second to take a one goal advantage in the third period.   But just like the day before the Mustangs won the last period.   Connor Austin scored off an assist by Vince Laurita and James De Spain scored the power play game winner for Mullen with 4:30 remaining. Mullen goalie Colton Heidenfelder netminder made 21 saves from 23 shots.

By Mary Kay De Spain

1. Upcoming ice times - This Monday, 2/21, at the Ice Ranch from 4:15 - 5:15.  Follow-up ice time - Monday, 2/28, at DU from 4:15-5:15.  (Parking pass and gate code for DU will be forwarded under separate e-mail.)

**  Please plan to be at these skates, as we will be collecting mandatory forms, fees, and ensuring that we have an accurate count on our players.  If you cannot make it, please send your information with another of the players and let me know who will be delivering them for you.

2. Mandatory Player Forms - 3 Documents are required as part of the player credentials.  Please be sure to deliver them to me by Monday, 2/28.

b - http://www.highplainshockey.com/ConsentTreat-MedHistory_3C_09-10.pdf

(These forms can also be found on the High Plains Hockey website under the "Managers" and then "Documents.")

c - A current copy of the player's student id.

3. Parent requirement - A parent of each player will also need to sign up with CAHA Cares -
there is a link to CAHA on the HPHL registration site.  From there they select the CAHA Cares link -  right below the link for background
screenings (bottom - center of page).  If you signed up previously this year for another team, then you do not have to do this again.

4. Fees - As we cannot be certain of the final fee amount (will be between $575-$700) until we have a final count on players, we will collect $625/player initially and follow-up if there are any shortages or refunds.  The invoice to High Plains has to be paid prior to our 1st game, so we will need to collect these on Monday, 2/21 or 2/28, as well.  (Initially, I had said $500 was required at these ice times, so if you need additional time for the extra $125, please let me know.)

5. Jerseys - Please respond to this e-mail right away with your current Mullen jersey #.  If you do not have a jersey, please respond and let me know that as well.

6. Home Rink - I have not received official word yet, but we have made the following request (in this order): Edge, Ice Ranch, and South Suburban.  As soon as I hear, I will forward that information on.  The Edge has been our home rink in previous years.

7. 1st Game - As soon as I receive that information, I will forward it on, but I anticipate it will be the 1st or 2nd week of March.

8. Games and Practices:

¨       Varsity

*16 games/ 12 practices.

*17 min. stop clock periods, ice make between 2nd and 3rd period.

*Divided into 3 tiers.

Reminder:  There is an open skate this Saturday, 2/19, at Old Foothills from 7:00-8:30.  It is open ice time that Mullen has for those that would like to get on the ice and have some fun, so hope to see you there!

Warm regards,

Mary Kay
