Major updates

New team to be added for varsity competition for the 2012-2013 season:  Foothills Conference:  Cherry Creek High School (Cherry Creek School District)  

Tournament dates:   The Regular Season will end on Saturday February 16, 2013.  1st and 2nd round play-off games are scheduled to be played February 22-23, 2013.  State Semi Final/Championship games Thursday February 28 and Friday March 1, 2013 @ the University of Denver.

Littleton, CO - Mullen Varsity legitimized it position as a playoff contender with a 4 to 3 overtime victory over perennial powerhouse Ralston Valley Friday evening at the Edge Ice arena.   The victory was the 2nd come from behind win in as many days as the Mustangs had come back from a 3 to 1 deficit a little more than 24 hours earlier in Breckenridge with a 5 to 3 win over the Summit Tigers.  The win over Ralston Valley extends the varsity win streak to three games.   The varsity will face off again Monday evening at the Edge Ice Arena against Peak to Peak.

In the Ralston Valley game Zach Eberhard made 34 remarkable saves on 37 shots to lead the Mustangs to victory.  The Mustang's scoring was evenly spread among the offense as both teams skated with depleted rosters.  The Mustangs took the lead early in the first period to score the periods only goal from Vince Laurita assisted by Nick Zyzda.   The Mustang defense of Boyle, Dyson, Halax, Detine, Whitfield, and Eberhard worked diligently to contain the Ralston Valley offensive freight train.  Ralston Valley scored two times late in the second period to take the lead.   Just as the day before the Mustang offense accelerated again and scored twice in the 3rd period with a with a power play goal by Connor Austin ( assist by Sean Detine) and a short handed goal by Garrett Lee assisted by Brennan McMahon.  RV tied with game with 48 seconds remaining to take the game into overtime.  Brady Brehm sealed the victory for Mullen on a power play game winner assisted by Brennan McMahon to take the Mustangs to 5 and 6 for the season thus far.

In the Summit game Zach Eberhard made 24 saves on 27 shots as the Mustangs scored 4 goals in the span of 10 minutesin a remarkable 3rd period comeback.   Ian Boyle, Brady Brehm, and Kyle Burkhart each had one assist and a goal each to lead the Mustangs to victory.
